This clip is from the 1959 film, "Asbestos: a Matter of Time," by the Bureau of Mines (US Department of the Interior.) The entire film is available on GoggleVideo. This clip describes key properties of asbestos and some of its uses in the 1950s. Inhaling asbestos dust, can cause asbestosis, lung cancer and esothelioma. Asbestos manufacturers knew of these diseases by the 1930s. Tens of thousands of (mostly) workers have been made sick and died from asbestos exposure. Don't be so fucking stupid.
1. Asbestos will never become legal in the western world again. In the UK its use has been prohibited since 1985 (blue and brown), and 1999 (white).
2. Every month/year, regulations on work/removal with regard to asbestos is tightened and made more legislative.
3. Asbestos fibre is only invisible at a certain size. Bulk material is clearly visible with the naked eye, and if properly managed/removed the risk can be reduced - but never totally removed.

For decades, people were being subjected to asbestos exposure without realizing the impact it would have on their lives. Asbestos exposure is linked to deadly diseases including mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis. As a result, asbestos related litigation has been one of the largest challenges to address.

The first evidence of disease was found early in the 20th century - Life insurance companies in the US quit insuring asbestos plant workers about 1920. Records of the asbestos industry show they decided to not tell workers of the dangers of asbestos exposure in the 1920s

Dear Petra678,
The danger is from inhaling the asbestos fibers. Touching an asbestos product will not increase your risk of cancer. And while it is best to avoid any exposure to asbestos a brief exposure, as you've describe,is not a concern. Workers who've gotten asbestos related cancers have had, at least, a few weeks of inhaling asbestos fibers.

your wrong their is one case in february of 1973 of a woman dieing of asbestosis and mesothelioma after 4 days of exposure but on the same hand she smoked like a train. the latency period is usually 10 to 20 years

they used vermiculite a type of asbestos to make the insulation and the bubblie effect of walls and ceilings but their is a stipulation from 1970 to 1980's it is presumed asbestos from 1970 to any earlier it will be 90% likely it is asbestos

In Fact I took a Geology Class in college and I found out that only 1 of the 8 Rocks of Asbestos causes Cancer. It is hard to tell them apart so they consider all Asbestos Dangerous. Hard to Believe Isn't it.
